Derby Hotel Art Collection
The Derby Hotel’s collection begins in the foyer which is dominated by five large limestone statues from the 18th century representing muses from Greek mythology, and, providing a marked artistic contrast, we also find two large triptychs in oil and collage by the painter, Josep Guinovart, possibly one of his most representative works, specially created for this space.
The hotel's cocktail bar shows Andy Warhol pop art style illustrations of Marilyn Monroe, which give the space a New Yorker character.
The most striking area is the lounge of the restaurant where a large collection of originals and lithographs by the painter, Joan Miró, are exhibited, including an original dedicated to the hotel.
The guest rooms feature a number of illuminated lithographs completed by hand by Guinovart himself, also created especially for the hotel, and by other artists such as Wilfredo Lam, Javier Mariscal and Ràfols Casamada.
