Are you already planning what to pack for your next trip? You can’t fit everything into your suitcase and you always end up leaving things behind? Don’t worry! You don’t have to be Marie Kondo to get your packing right 😉
Whether you are just travelling with hand luggage or you are checking in a suitcase, read these tips for saving space and packing light and wrinkle-free.
- Check the weather forecast and avoid the just in case
Do you often find yourself overpacking “just in case”? It’s a good idea to check the weather at your destination before you start packing. This will save you from carrying around clothing and footwear that aren’t appropriate for the region.
- Create outfits for different days
A good way to keep your packing to a minimum is to plan outfits for each day of your trip. Choose pieces in matching colours so you can mix and match each piece. This way you can create different looks with just a few articles of clothing.
- Roll, don’t fold
If you want to save space in your suitcase: roll your clothes instead of folding them. Rolling clothing prevents wrinkles and takes up less space. Keep delicate clothes from creasing by folding them and placing them at the top of the suitcase.
- Stretch belts around the sides of the suitcase
Instead of rolling belts, try placing them length-ways around the inside of the suitcase. This will take up a lot less space!
- Pack your shoes in a shower cap
Instead of packing your shoes in bags that take up a lot of space, a handy tip is to store them in a shower cap. Place them in the shower cap so that the sole is covered. This way they won’t touch your clean clothes and they will also take up less space in your bag.
- Packing toiletries
Toiletries take up a lot of space in your suitcase. Use travel-sized bottles for necessary items as they’re smaller and easy to store. And remember, you don’t have to pack everything: in Derby Hotels Collection, you will find all the essential guest room items in your room.
- Wear your bulkiest clothes on your travel days
Knee-high boots, a big coat, thick sweaters… If they dont fit in your suitcase, and especially if you are just travelling with hand luggage, it’s best to wear them while you are travelling.
These tips will help you to pack the perfect suitcase and still leave you extra space for any souvenirs you may want to buy on your holiday.
And remember, don’t worry if you forget to pack something; you can just buy the local version. Our staff at Derby Hotels Collection will be happy to assist you with anything you need.
